Mary Ruth Woodburn Bowles, 84, of Nice Mills, MD handed away on December 23, 2021 at her residence with household by her facet.


Born on April 17, 1937 in Leonardtown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Mary Ruth Norris Woodburn and Richard Dellie Woodburn.  Mary Ruth was married for 42 years to the late Ralph B. Bowles, whom she married on October 28, 1961 at Holy Face Church in Nice Mills, MD.


A lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, she was a religious Catholic and parishioner of Holy Face Church in Nice Mills, MD and a previous member of the Women of Charity.  She graduated from Little Flower Faculty in 1951 and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1955.  Within the fall of 1955, Mary Ruth entered Warflynn Magnificence Faculty in Washington, D.C. and graduated one yr later.


In 1956 after magnificence faculty, Mary Ruth went to work for Mr. Invoice Temple of the “Temple of Magnificence” salon in Lexington Park, MD.  She would inform tales of doing the hair of Navy wives whose husbands have been attending the Take a look at Pilot Faculty on the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.  The salon was bought in 1961, and she or he went to work for Mrs. Elsie Ford, who had a magnificence store in her residence in City Creek, MD.


After Donna was born in 1962, she stayed residence along with her for a few yr however actually missed working.  It was presently she and Ralph determined to construct a magnificence store for her at residence.  The store was named “Bowles Magnificence Nook” and was positioned of their yard.  Mary Ruth went again to work in 1963 and began working within the night and on Saturdays and added hours because the enterprise grew.  It proved to be an excellent alternative for Mary Ruth; she wished to work but in addition wished to be residence along with her household.  They welcomed two extra ladies, Lisa in 1970 and Karen in 1973. On September 26, 2005, Mary Ruth celebrated her fiftieth anniversary of working as a beautician.  She thought of all her purchasers as her prolonged household.


She had the present of hospitality and loved internet hosting luncheons, card events, and vacation dinners, and loved dancing and cooking.  She liked tenting along with her associates within the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.  In later years, Sunday dinners along with her household grew to become a cherished weekly occasion.


Mary Ruth is survived by her three daughters: Donna Voithoffer (Barry), Lisa Thomas (Jamie), and Karen Rowand and (Robert), and brother Francis Woodburn (Jean).  She can be survived by her 5 beloved grandchildren: Eric and Ryan Thomas, Leah Voithoffer, and Lauren and Jenna Rowand. Along with her dad and mom and husband, Mary Ruth was predeceased in dying by her sisters Janice Hayden and Erva Mae Woodburn and brother-in-law, Vincent Hayden.


The household will obtain associates on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 10:30am to 11:30am at Brinsfield Funeral Residence in Leonardtown, MD.  A Mass of Christian Burial will probably be held at 12:00pm at Holy Face Church, Nice Mills, MD.  Interment will comply with at St. Joseph’s Church Cemetery in Morganza, MD.
